Khlek is an 11-year-old boy from the Kroeung ethnic minority.

He and his parents live and work as rubber tappers on a rubber plantation in northeastern Cambodia,

which is run by bosses from the Khmer diaspora in France.

One day, Khlek notices a huge charred tree, cut into pieces and abandoned in the middle of the plantation.
